Watch Lukas Grow in 2013: January

As I mentioned before, I can’t help but continue these posts in 2013. I decided to try a new location and new chair just to change things up a bit. These pictures completely crack me up because they just scream personality. And our boy has plenty of that!

So what’s Lukas up to these days?

He is now 30 months old. How is it possible that we have a two and a half year old? There is no doubt that he is exerting every bit of his strong will on a daily basis. Temper tantrums now include throwing things, jumping up and down, growling, and yelling at us. Fun times, people.

He is quite a little artist and asks to paint and draw every day. His pretend play is becoming a little more involved and he mainly acts out scenes from the cars movie, which is so cute! He loves to help me do things around the house, like cooking and putting things away-well, except for his toys. He mimics the things we do and say, which usually cracks us both up. His memory continues to amaze us and he literally doesn’t forget anything, which is a little scary. I love to see him do the motions to deep and wide and the itsy, bitsy spider, but he gets very shy and bashful if he notices you’re watching him.

Lukas loves to be read to and we’ve started a new morning routine of a bible story and some fun books while we eat breakfast. He asks for the Baby Jesus book first and then the other books. Lately we’ve been reading about 3 times a day: at breakfast, before nap, and before bedtime. I love that he loves to be read to and I hope by reading to him he will continue to love to read!

His favorite toys are his cars and trucks but he is starting to fall in love with trains. He now asks to watch Thomas instead of Lightning and Chuck. The Cars movie cars are still nearest and dearest to his heart and he plays with them and talks about them and looks for them constantly.

He is such a chatterbox now. He talks nonstop and it’s really unbelievable that about 3 months ago he wasn’t even putting 2 words together. He can be very bossy and doesn’t mind telling us what he wants us to do. Daddy, play with me, Mama, it (sit) on couch, Me pick you up,  Me go outside and play in dirt are just a few of the many things he demands throughout the day. He has this loud, fake laugh he does when he thinks something is funny. He is such a clown but has a shy side, too.

What a boy! He is really something else and I don’t think people really get to see how much personality he has. He is such a combination of busyness, intelligence, and stubbornness that I continually tell Mitchell we have our work cut out for us and that he is going to keep us on our toes. Actually, he already does. I pray every day that the Lord will help us and guide us in raising Lukas for Him. I just know the Lord has big plans for our sweet boy!

He is so stinking cute. I love picturing him doing all the motions to the songs. Soak up these sweet days or learning something new every day.
